5 Star Pets started with a simple, slightly unhinged belief: the people who love their animals loudly deserve gear and apparel that loves them back. The dog mom who's $400 deep in allergy meds. The cat person quietly accepting that lint is now a personality trait. The rescue household that wouldn't trade their "mystery breed" for any purebred on earth. That's who we make things for.
Who's behind it
This is a one-person studio, by choice. I've been designing for thirty years — it started with my own apparel label back in California in 1996, and it never really stopped. Every crest, every illustration, every bad pun stitched onto a tee here came off my desk, not a template farm. I work faceless and let the work do the talking, which feels right for a brand that's more about your animal than about me.
The illustrated characters you'll see roaming the store — Lord Fluffington in his monocle, Tony the Trash Cat with zero shame — are the unofficial mascots. They have opinions. You'll get used to it.
What we actually sell
Two things, honestly. Original apparel — breed-specific tees, tanks, and accessories designed in-house, printed on premium Bella+Canvas blanks (ethically made, Fair Labor certified, none of that mystery-fabric nonsense). And pet gear we've sourced for the alley-to-penthouse range — the practical stuff that makes living with an animal easier.
The quiet part
This is a small, independent shop. When you buy here, you're not feeding an algorithm at a billion-dollar warehouse — you're backing a solo designer who genuinely cares whether the joke lands and the shirt holds up wash after wash.
